So as we as a nation have honored those that have spent time in military, it feels like we have jaded their sacrifice with the decisions we have made as a nation. Look at our president to be. We have elected someone with no military or international affair experience. Living abroad and having experiences with those of a demographic that have proven they only want to bring down our nation does not substitute.
There are some intangibles that time in the military will, sometimes uncomfortably, be forced into your perspective. Respect, responsibility, patriotism, etc. will become at the very least an underlying way of life. As many may or may not know, I also spent some time in the military. I, however, do not think for a second that the sacrifices that I have made in the past are anything compared to those on the ground of past or present. I personally became irate when the e-mail servers were down or the hot water was out. That is nothing compared to the grunts of WWII or any other conflict when the nation called for it's strong and courageous. These men and women have left their families and the lives they knew to pick up arms when the country called. These are the people we need to honor, and not just one day a year, but everyday. Everyday that we enjoy the freedoms that our country offers, we should be actively thinking of those that are and have provided us that.
And now, as much as I have ranted about the replacing of capitalism and democracy with socialism, our foreign policy is definitely in danger. Regardless of how anybody feels about how George Bush did during his tenure, those ignorant of issues will be the first to bash him to the point of not realizing the the great things he did do. When our country came under attack, he stood as the representative against terrorism for our country. He told all terrorists and the countries that would support them, that there was a price to pay for attacking the USA and if they didn't surrender and face the consequences of their heinous actions, then the reckoning was coming. When our country needed a John Wayne or Wyatt Earp, he was exactly that. I think our 7 attack free years following have shown that it was effective. When our half allies fell away because they didn't think we should be fighting terrorism fully, he stood, amidst criticism from a lot of people and told them that the reckoning was coming regardless of their support and as a powerful, sovereign country, we would defend ourselves and execute the punishments for those that wronged us. Our own citizens who had forgot, who had hadn't been touched by the 9-11 attacks directly, began throwing stones. If the only thing that affected you from those attacks are the long security lines at airports, then you have no idea. Go talk to someone who lost their significant other, a child who lost their parent, or any of the many broken families that this conflict has spawned. Some would say cut your loss and run. But how does that honor the memory of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice? I'm not saying fight for no reason, but fighting without victory is pointless and spits on the graves of those who gave all. The last time we half fought a battle, strategically, was Vietnam. The only people who didn't half fight it were the troops on the ground and they came back to a country who was not at all thankful for their sacrifice. Now, how do we honor the memories of our more current heroes? We elect a man that does not believe we can win, so quitting is a viable option to him. He wants to sit down with the leaders of our enemies and discuss peace. We did not start this war! We are defending ourselves and innocent people around the world against tyranny and attempted genocide. Peace without victory is not an option.
This is and always has been a religious war. When people can not be tolerant of other religions, history has proved that war is the inevitable outcome. Americans, in the view of zealots, are all Christians. I am proud of my faith and have never tried to hide my beliefs. However, I know that the percentage of the country that has true faith in any God is low and decreasing with every generation. And should we expect anything different? We react extremely if any hint of religion or morals are taught in school, but think about not teaching that same sex marriages are acceptable and every homosexual around the nation goes nuts. We have gotten exactly what we have failed to plan against.
Our country's only hope is that there are still a lot of people out there that are good people. Maybe they don't always get media attention, because rather than march in parades or hold protests they are taking their kids to Boy Scout meetings or to church. Being a good parent and raising a moral family has taken its rightful place as the number one priority. Now, is the time that we add another priority. It's time to speak up for your country. Call into radio stations, write to your newspaper, support the media that has like values with you. Make the hard choice. For now, we are still a capitalistic society. Use the all powerful dollar and support the companies that have similar values as you and refuse to deal with those that don't. If we continue to decline in our values as a country, we can not imagine the society we will live in soon. So to our president to be, Happy Veterans Day, may your upcoming term not devalue our true heroes past and present.

Obamageddon
So even though I don't think the sky is falling or the nation is going to cease to exist, there is a definite calm before the storm that can only be described as eerie. I don't necessarily think that we will come under attack in 9-11 type proportions, besides who wants to fight when you get what you want peacefully. The biggest fear I think we should be worried about is the sliding away from capitalism and democracy. The unfortunate thing is that as we move further to the left, it is impossible to move away. Look at history and you will see that I am correct. As you have a growing demographic dependent on the government, benefits (read as: socialism) can not be abolished. The growing population who live off the government will obviously not want to get rid of their funded, albeit leech-like, lifestyle.
I understand that many people will want us to be pacifists about it all and try to take the change in stride. Sticking our head in the sand won't make it go away. And by doing so, we may pull our head out only to find that our country is nothing like the way we left it. But what can we do? And what would we do since he hasn't done anything yet? Well, to quote Barack, "Words do matter." Every promise he has made and every thing he sees in nirvana is socialism. There is a reason that our founding fathers did not establish a socialistic government. Health care is a huge issue and I for one do not want to pay for everyone's health care. I believe in capitalism and prior to this election, I thought the majority of America did as well. Capitalism works because of the natural human desire to achieve a better lifestyle. The keyword is achieve (interchange: earn). Many things motivate people. Some people have nice vehicles that they want to keep nice and modify. Some people have families that they want to make sure are taken care of. Medical care and an empty stomach is a great motivator. People have a way out of most situations they are in. If you don't like your situation, you will change it. More often than not, people say they want to change something, but they don't, so they don't really want to change anything. Far digression, I apologize.
To contradict Lincoln's famous speech, all men are not created equal. A simple look at sports will show you that not everybody is 7'1" with a ridiculous vertical. All men (and women) are created with equal rights. That's as far as it goes. Medical care is not a right, nor is a full stomach. Everybody has the right to earn a lifestyle, with or without health care. This is much better than other societies and what I thought was a universal creed. The election results have told me otherwise. Where does the supposed "rights" end? Can you in turn provide everybody with food if they are too poor to afford it? The line to draw there is thin, big mac's or steak? Providing lifestyles pushes things into a gray area that is just not necessary.
The worst part is that as you remove motivators, people are less motivated to earn anything. Eventually, working isn't profitable or worth it. There will always be people that want to "earn" vice receive a lifestyle. God bless that demographic. You are what has made America great.
My target audience has a small chance of actually getting this blog. I am talking to the blue collar worker who is feeding his or her family and justifying a second or third shift in hopes of getting something extra for their kid. I am talking to the mom and pop shop owner who has taken the risk to run their own business. Even the "rich" professional who has committed himself to an education and is now making payments on the college loans. Up and down the economic ladder, there are people that are working and earning a living. You are the people I am talking to. Those that live off of the government are not my audience. If by chance you stumbled across this, hopefully this blog makes you look at yourself in the mirror in disgust and you will start to carry your own weight.
So what can you do? Not as much as we could have before the election. The biggest thing we can do is hold Obama accountable. Write to your congressman, write to the media. The consensus is that the majority prefers Obama. When only 60% of the population voted, majority gets thrown out the window. Something I learned in the Navy, some fights you can't win, but you fight them anyway. You have to stand for something or you will fall for anything. Everyone needs to stay educated and current on the issues that will be placed in front of our president in the next 4 years. Talk to people, make your opinion known. I know sometimes in a politically correct world, it is sometimes hard to be open with your opinions. Left wing liberals felt no shame in bashing the government for the last 8 years. I don't want anyone to bash the government or spew ignorance. That only decreases our stance. Be educated, be professional, be vigiliant. This is how we minimize the damage and correct things 4 years from now.
